CARE
The proper upbringing of our puppies is our primary focus during the time they spend with us. We hope to influence the absolute best outcome for any adopter and their newest family member by ensuring our puppies leave us as healthy and well-adjusted as possible.
Our puppies are raised in our home and are handled individually on a daily basis. Along with regular handling, our pups are gently introduced to additional challenges that will benefit them and their future families. These exposures include Early Neurological Stimulation, The Misty Method introduction to potty training, weekly grooming sessions, noise desensitization and more.

EARLY NEUROLOGICAL STIMULATION, also known as "Bio Sensor Training" has been studied and utilized by the US Military for working dogs. The benefits of the program may include, but are not limited to stronger heart beats, stronger adrenal glands, better tolerance to stress, and stronger resistance to disease. The program consists of five quick and painless steps that stimulate the puppy. This training is performed with our puppies once a day until they reach sixteen days old.

THE MISTY METHOD is the earliest introduction to potty training and will benefit future owners with housebreaking. This method is used as soon as our puppies become mobile. It is natural for a canine to prefer clean living quarters, so this method helps the puppies understand how to keep his/her area clean. The puppies' early rearing pen consists of two areas - one is for sleeping, playing, eating, etc. - the other is the potty area. This differential works with the dog's inborn understanding to keep the den clean, so the pups willingly learn to potty in one area and interact in the other, keeping the pups and their living quarters tidy.

GROOMING is important at a young age, as the handling a puppy receives during early grooming sessions will impact the way he/she views grooming and handling in the future, be it from an owner, vet, groomer, etc. Beginning at two weeks of age, our puppies will receive their first nail trim. Once they reach three to four weeks of age, we will begin bathing, brushing, blow drying, and ear cleaning once a week along with their nail trims. As the puppies grow, they become extremely comfortable with the grooming process.
NOISE DESENSITIZATION is started with our puppies once they are able to hear. It is a gentle introduction to sounds that may cause any dog to become nervous if introduced under the wrong circumstances. By gently introducing sounds with positive associations, the puppies begin learning how to cope with stressful noises.
One tool we use is Calm Pet audio by Calmsound, which is an album of sounds designed to help desensitize pets. This album includes sounds such as vacuums, fireworks, knocking on doors, babies crying, engines starting, etc.
NUTRITION
Diamond Naturals, Large Breed Puppy, Lamb & Rice Formula
is one food our Rottie pups are weaned onto and receive controlled amounts after weaning.
All adopters will receive a small bag of this food at the time of adoption.
For more information on why it is so important to feed a quality large breed puppy food according to Diamond brand CLICK HERE.
We feed our weaned puppies three times daily for approximately ten minutes. This is simply to prevent overgrowth, which has been proven to be a leading cause of irreversible orthopedic conditions in large breed dogs. We encourage our adopters take the time to monitor their new puppy's feeding regime and weight carefully.

IMMUNIZATIONS
All available puppies will be vaccinated at least once prior to adoption.
We vaccinate our puppies at 6 weeks. If puppies have not been adopted by 9, 12 and 16 weeks, they will also be vaccinated at these times. The primary vaccine we use for our puppies is Spectra 5 by Durvet. Canine Spectra 5 is for protection against canine distemper, adenovirus type 2 (and hepatitis), parainfluenza, and parvovirus type 2b.

PARASITE PREVENTION
DEWORMING
puppies will begin a deworming schedule at 2 weeks of age.
Pyrantel Pamoate is administered at 2 and 4 weeks of age, this dewormer treats hookworm and roundworm. Once puppies reach 6 weeks, we will switch to Fenbendazole which treats roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and common tapeworm.
HEARTWORM
Pups born/raised in warmer months will receive a Heartworm preventative at 6 weeks of age, which will be continued once a month for the prevention of Heartworm. We use Ivermectin for our puppies and adult dogs.
FLEA PREVENTION
Our puppies will begin flea treatment with a topical flea prevention at 6-8 weeks of age. One of the flea prevention products we trust is Vectra 3D, which is highly effective and safe for puppies and the nursing mother.
